Counselling and Psychotherapy

About Counselling and Psychotherapy

Counselling or psychotherapy is appropriate for anyone who is interested in exploring their inner thoughts and feelings and gaining greater self understanding.

It is not easy to see a counsellor for the first time, and it is not unusual to feel hesitant about sharing personal information.  Our counsellors are aware or this and are trained to listen without judgement. Counselling / Psychotherapy provides a safe place to explore your thoughts and feelings

People come to counselling with a wide range of personal, emotional and relationship difficulties.  There are times in many people's lives when they feel unable to cope.  Counsellors believe that exploring feelings and difficulties, and understanding conflicts can be helpful so that you can deal with old hurts that are influencing how you react to situations now.

There is an opportunity through the relationship with the counsellor to think together about some of the difficulties you are experiencing.  A counsellor does not give advice, but can help to understand some of the more unconscious "hidden" feelings that are preventing you from from being able to change.

Counselling or Psychotherapy is also helpful for increasing your potential, living more creatively, and overcoming blocks to success.  It is appropriate for anyone who is interested in exploring their inner thoughts and feelings and gaining greater self understanding.

Counselling and psychotherapy can help you understand present difficulties in the light of their roots in the past.  Patterns of relating may cause difficulties in the present.  Your counsellor will help you to understand these so that you can move forward.
